I'm in the
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
I'm in the middle of reading Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand, and I don't think I have read anything so funny in a really long time. I mean, Rick Riordan never fails to make me laugh, but there is a considerable absence of wit in modern books--wit as opposed to silly situations/screwball comedy, etc., which is one reason why I read old books.
This post is dedicated to your favorite plays, however scarce they run these days. They are fun to read, especially since they are not bogged down by unnecessary description.
My favorites are--
Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard
Hamlet by William Shakespeare
I also liked Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, but it is a little too political for my taste.
What are your favorite plays (for the Admins, too)?
Oh, without taking a lot of time to think, I'd say Our Town. And if musicals count, I'd say Showboat and Fiddler on the Roof.

Seconding Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Yes. Also Waiting for Godot, in a similar vein.
I'm a big fan of Albee's Me, Myself & I.
Jennifer Vanasco's Funeral Wedding: the Alvin Play is frankly amazing.
I'm REALLY fond of Mac Wellman's The Sandalwood Box.
if you want to count experimental and immersive stuff, Then She Fell. completely.
um...
Rajiv Josef's Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo
David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People
Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses

I really want to read Waiting for Godot. I like theater of the absurd.

My favourite plays are 12th Night by William Shakespere and Matilda The Musical. I am reading them both.

My dad recently took me to see Our Town! It was so good!
I like things that make you think about life. . . .

She meant did. I saw it with my mom and cousin. I cried at the end, but I got embarrassed so I started quietly laughing and crying and my cousin made fun of me.

Yeah, did, sorry. I was on tech crew and since it needs minimal tech, I only had to usher, then I could watch the whole thing.

I like Hamlet, As You Like It, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Love's Labour's Lost.

My school is doing a younger, 40-minute verison of The Two Gentlemen of Verona. I'm Panthino, a dude, like so many other girls. The boys can't really act, and the lead always has detention, is goofing off, or has a headmaster or police looking for him. Yeah... I get the best line in the play that includes a word that means stupid person, booty, or donkey. I emphasize the word, and make people laugh.
