Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Relatable Book Characters
1. Lindsay Lee...

1. Lindsay Lee Wells for An Abundance of Katherines. I, like her, am always chameleoning for whoever my present company is.
2. Alaska Young from  Looking for Alaska. Because depression.

Has anyone else found book characters that they could really relate to?

I have never felt so related to a book character as Maya, from The Lost Island of Tamarind. She was so much like me. Same age, same feelings, same situations.

YES!!! All the time, I'm finding characters I can relate to remarkably!

1. Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables. I bet most people can relate to her in some way, but in almost everything (just not her love of writing romances), I am just like her. People think me odd, I'm constantly daydreaming or imagining, I want to strive hard in school, I like to write, and read,  I love nature... There's little that I can't relate to.

2. Jo March from Little Women. I can relate to Jo about as much as I relate to Anne! Jo and I are almost exactly alike!!!

3.  Clover, from What Katy Did. While I love Katy, I just can't relate to
her as much. But I feel a strong connection between Clover and me!

I'll probably think of more later, but those are the ones I relate to the most!

This isn't really a book, but I feel like I can relate to Benji from Pitch Perfect.  We're both nerdy, and can get left out or act awkward sometimes.

1. Emily Starr from the Emily Trilogy. I (thankfully!) don't live with an antiquated and stuffy aunt, but I love writing and dreaming and am a little snarky at times!

2. Jo March from Little Women. Seriously, she is the most relatable character ever invented!

3. Éowyn, from The Lord of the Rings. I'm not exactly like her, but I like her spunk and understand how she feels. And how she has that infatuation with Aragorn. I mean, if he showed up in my life, how can you not fall in love with him???

Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower, because we have the same thought process.

Cather from Fangirl, because writing and general antisocial nerdiness.

Mary "Jacky" Faber from Bloody Jack because my relationship with my sort of crush is exactly like hers with her crush and they are both named James.  Also, for about a year for all social purposes I was practically a boy.

Colin from An Abundance of Katherines because misunderstood nerdiness.

Yes, I realize two and a half of these are boys.

I guess I feel like a can relate to Lexi in "The Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality". She doesn't wear makeup and is not someone that people really take notice of but she's a really funny and smart person. You just have to get to know her.

Pudge, from looking for Alaska, because I have friend(s) who keep disappearing from my life in various ways. Well, only Alaska died, but you get the point.

Jane from Devilish. I'm not quite as brave or smart as her, but I've made a lot of the same mistakes and have a lot of the same values, and she's the only book character I know of who's in the predicament of going-to-a-Catholic-school-while-not-being-Catholic that I am. Some of the stuff she does and how aware she is of how a good story goes is definitely something I relate to, and a few of her shenanigans are definitely stuff that I have wanted to do at points.
