Chatterbox: Blab About Books

60's/Hippie
Hey, I am...

Hey, I am currently reading "Schooled", a book about a guy named Capricorn "Cap" Anderson.  He and his grandmother Rain live on a rural farm in a very 60s' life style.  They grow their own food, homeschool Cap, don't have a telephone, and live a perfectly happy life until Rain falls and breaks her hip.  While she is recouperating, Cap has to live in the modern world and go to school.  This is especially hard for him because he doesn't know what an iPod is, has never handled money, and likes to wear tie dye shirts with his long hair.  Then he gets elected to the unwanted job of 8th grade president, and his life gets especially interesting.  Will Cap be able to survive a brutal encounter with the Claverage (a.k.a C Average) Middle Schoolers?

Other books I recommend:

-The Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson

-The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer

-The Golden Compass Series by Philip Pullman

-To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

-The Teacher's Funeral by Richard Peck

-The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

-Coraline by Neil Gaimon

-The Narnia Series by C.S. Lewis

-Wicked by Gregory Peck

-Any books by Donna Jo Napoli

-The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares

-The Clique Series by Lisi Harrison

I know this is a lot of books, but I'm kind of a bookworm :)

Hey, I've heard of that book! I'm a bookworm also. :) I love the Harry Potter series, but I don't think I've read any of the other books on your list.

I've read Harry Potter and Narnia, I don't care for The Golden Compass (sorry, and I've at least heard of or seen the rest. Most of them sound pretty good.

I read Schooled but don't remember it too well. It was a while ago. I loved Harry Potter, Twilight was...well...look on the other threads, and Coraline creeped me out. I haven't read any of the others. I've heard that The Clique is trash and the back covers make them sound awful, but I haven't read them. Are they better than I've heard?
