Palace Of Mirrors, by Margeret Peterson Haddix, is a companion novel to Just Ella. Cecilia lives in a small village in the countryside. But she has a secret. Cecilia is the princess. In the royal palace, another girl (Desmia) sits on Cecilia's throne to prevent the last member of the royal family from being killed. You see, Cecilia's parents, the king and queen, were killed by the "evil ones" and the young princess was the only survivor. But when the evil ones start to creep in on the cottage that Cecilia shares with her Nanny, she flees the village with her best friend, Harper. When they get to the palace, however, they discover that Desmia thinks that she is the true princess. Cecilia and Harper get locked up in the palace for weeks. When Desmia and another girl, Ella (yes, from Just Ella) lets them out, the three girls and Harper discover a dungeon filled with many other girls who all think they're the princess! The end is filled with suspense, surprise, and shock. Haddix leaves you wondering until the final chapters who the real princess is.
