Chatterbox: Blab About Books
It is always the toughest thing ever to decide what my five favorite books are, but when I was posed with this question by a friend point blank as part of a game, I had to figure it out quickly. Therefore, I figured I'd create a post about favorite books (and movies and songs, in Pudding's Place).
My favorite books are (in no particular order, because then I could never choose):
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tokien
The Hero and the Crown by Robin Mckinley (which is technically a children's book but has an eighteen-year old protagonist)
ATale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
The Emily trilogy by L.M. Montgomery.
Now that I look at it, perhaps the list is in order after all, but I have read them all at least a half-dozen times--likely more.
What are your top five favorite books?

@ Blonde Heroines Rule:
You should definitely read Wuthering Heights and Lord of the Rings. Admittedly, Wuthering Heights is a little hard to read, because the characters are very "tortured" so to speak with unrequieted love...but beside the romance, it is a very thrilling Gothic tale, and I, personally, think Heathcliff is a perfect anti-hero.
As for Lord of the Rings, you really really really should read it! It's slow to start with, but once the plot gets going, it really goes! I love the characters and it really is a classic fantasy, although I prefer to call it a "myth," because it's not typical fantasy with magic and dragons and the like.
And I shall definitely look for What Katy Did. Sounds like a good read.

I will and am! I do really want to read them! It's so hard for me to get to the library (which is sad). I need to become a librarian just to have an excuse to be there.
And definitely look for What Katy Did! If you like that, I can tell you the sequals (which are just equally great!)

@BHR
I found an antique copy of a sequel to What Katy Did in a used bookstore in Maine. I immediately thought of you!

Oh! I just finished the first book in the Emily series! I'm glad to know someone else read it. :)
My five favorite books would be:
Storybound
Alcott's books. Yes, all of them.
The Star Shard
The Hardy Boys
Wished Away
(July 26, 2013 - 5:22 pm)
1) Anything by John Green (DFTBA)
2) Kingdom Keepers series by Ridley Pearson
3) Anything by Ally Carter
4) You Look Different in Real Life by Jennifer Castle
5) The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls by Julie Schumacher
6) Au Revoir Crazy European Chick/ Perry's Killer Playlist by Joe Schreiber
7) Anything by Elizabeth Eulberg
8) Anything by Shannon Hale
9) Anything by Tera Lynn Childs
10) Anything by Gail Carson Levine, Rachel Hawkins, or Kiersten White
Oh, and Maureen Johnson's pretty cool. Sorry, I couldn't just say a book. I had to say an author.

@ Gollum:
I KNOW! I've read the entire Little House series. I watch often enough on TV, cause I still do like the show too, but it's absolutely nothing like the books. It's really, really sad. Laura Ingalls Wilder is one of the most interesting authors I've ever read. She literally lived during the turn of the century! She saw things go from covered wagons, to automobiles and electricity! Heck, she was born in 1867, and died in 1957. Really people, you've got to think about how much change she saw in her life. The show just doesn't illustrate that properly.
@ Melody:
OH MY GOSH THAT IS SO COOL! And I'm glad you thought of me! :)

At first I thought in numbers seven, eight and nine that all of those authors had written a book called "Anything". *headdesk*
(July 27, 2013 - 7:33 pm)
No, I couldn't just decide on one book. xD

When someone asks me for my favourite books I just recite the most recent books I read from the library because they're usually good :D These are my most favourite books that made me cry and/or stir something inside me and somewhat changed my life (my other favourite books are YA dystopians with love triangles of course)
Looking for Alaska by John Green (I laughed hysterically then I bawled)
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak (Death is amazing I love him/her)
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (I disagree with his opinions but this book was an amazing read and it was so complex. I'm really excited about the movie but they took out the Locke and Demosthenes roles which makes sense but they were two interesting and brilliant, um, characters?)
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke (I read this when I was maybe 8 or so and it was easily the biggest book I had read at the time which made it special, but I also fell in love with the book itself and I think this is what started my bookworminess)
Goodnight, Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian (I read this in fourth grade and it was probably the first book that made me cry.)
Honourable mentions!
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead (This lead me to believe that vampire books can be good and I prefer it over VA sorry)
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo (The writing in this book is beautiful)
Bzrk by Michael Grant (The world is terrifying but wonderful)
The HP series by JK Rowling (Amazing world, amazing characters, amazing fanfiction possibilities :D)
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa (This also helped me believe that vampire books can be amazing)
The Hunger Games series minus Mockingjay (Amazing but Finnick and Prim really?)
The Chemical Garden Trilogy by Lauren DeStefano (Okay, I haven't read Sever because my library still doesn't have it but the first two books were SO GOOD IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY)

Top 5 favorites? Wow I have so many favorite books. Here is my top favorite not in order though.
Harry Potter years 1-7 by J.K Rowlings
The Chronicles of Narnia books 1-7 by C.S Lewis
Mary Poppins books 1-4 by P.L Travers
The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
Out of all of those Harry Potter years 1-7 is my favorite. I also have many other favorites; it would take a long time to write them all down. For The Chronicles of Narnia books 1-7, and Island of the Blue Dolphins I have not read in a long time. The first book of Mary Poppins was for school. But I ended up liking it and reading the other three books. And The Cricket in Times Square I have just started reading today, and it is only one book of the series of 7 books. If you want hard books I recomend reading Harry Potter years 1-7. But I started reaing Harry Potter about two years ago and it was too hard and boring but just this year I read one book (anywhere from 200 to I think 800 pages per book) in about 1 week. Island of the Blue Dolphins is good too, especially if you like books on surviving. Mary Poppins books 1-4 are easier to read but still good. All I can say about Cricket in Times Square is that it had high ratings. So those are my top favorite books not in order.
