"North and South"

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
"North and South"...

"North and South" is about a young woman from the south of England who has to move to the north of England (to Milton to be exact).  She meets a young man there who owns a cotton factory.  Their personalities clash.  But as they get to know each other they start to understand each other. A great read for all the Jane Austen loving fans!

I actually haven't read the book, but I have seen the movie. It is pretty good, and I have been meaning to read it.

Cranford is also another good Elizabeth Gaskell book and movie. There was one other, but I forgot the name.

I think it was Wives and Daughters.

Yes, actually "Wives and Daughters" and "Cranford" were written by her...they made movies for both of those too.

Sounds library searching worthy.
