Chatterbox: Blab About Books
BOOKS!!! Booksbooksbooksbooksbooks! I honestly need to take one day of my life and spend the whole day reading books. What would I accomplish? Well, maybe I could get rid of the stacks of books taking over my room....
GHOSTOPOLIS is a graphic novel. I can see you gasping in shock that I would be reading a graphic novel, yes, I know, but it's the best one I've read in ages! (Not counting manga style comics, because that's manga style comics, and those are different.) The pure emotion, simplicity, expression...! It was wonderful! It was the sort of wake up thing you need when your feeling like the whole world is just made of things that mean nothing to you.... The storyline was so simple and so complicated! It was amazing. You have to read it now. It's by Doug TenNapel, the guy who wrote CARDBOARD which, sadly, in my opnion, is more aclaimed then GHOSTOPOLIS. I liked GHOSTOPOLIS much better, though CARDBOARD was still good. There is only a few things I still can't exactly place in GHOSTOPOLIS, but they're unimportant, only things that will drive you crazy. I'd say what, but it would spoil the whole book.
MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PERCULIAR CHILDREN was NOT a graphic novel. It was a real book. I know, again, you're all on the edge of your seats in amazement that I would read a book, but it was also really, really good. I read it on the way to Iowa, and then we got there. Get this--I was sold a defective book! It was missing a signature--pages 161-192! We went to Barnes and Nobel and made an exchange so I could finish the book on the way back from Iowa, though. It was an amazing book! I couldn't tell if the ending was good or not, though.
Has anyone else read either of these books? Has anyone been sold a defective book before? Any other comments? (Ha--anyone been to Iowa?)
I've driven through Iowa.

Miss Perigrine's Home for Peculiar Children is on my to-read list. It sounded very interesting when I read about it on amazon.com. I've been to Iowa but only for 3 hours or so. :)

Hmm. It seems Iowa is not your typical vacation spot then. Well, I have lots of family there. @Everinne, I'm sure you'll love Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children when you read it. It's great!

I officially want to read MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PERCULIAR CHILDREN! Sounds good! As to what you would accomplish? In the eyes of an everyday person: Absolutely nothing! You'd waste an entire day! In my eyes: Absolutely everything! You'd at least aquire a new, vast amount of knowledge...
Depends, what is a defective book? I don't think I have...

Books missing pages, or a "broken book."

I read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children about a year ago. I loved it. And now I look at all the postcards at the Flea Market when the seller's asleep, because he only lets kids look at certain boxes. They're all kind of boring, and they don't have messages or anything. Maybe I'll see if he has any photographs next weekend.

Also, the closest way I've been to Iowa was being in The Music Man.
"You ought to give Iowa a try!"

@ Admin:
"Provided you are contrary."
I don't remember that line. . . .

I have been in Iowa!
I tried reading this book a couple months ago, but alas I never finished it because of being too busy. I think I'll try reading it again soon.
Cappie says habt. Habit? No, Cappie, not finishing books is not a habit I usually have.
