Chatterbox: Blab About Books
I'm Baaaaaaaack!
I don't know how often I can post, but I wanted to come back to all my CB buddies and get to know the new people.
So, the reason for my posting is to analyze novel titles.
First of all: Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Series name: Not bad, although a little long and sounds too much like a Harry Potter imitation.
The Lightning Thief: Not bad and seems original.
The Sea of Monsters: Boring and a little cliche.
The Titan's Curse: Nice sounding, but not really fitting to the entire story.
The Battle of the Labyrinth: Also sounds good, but not really fitting to the whole plot.
The Last Olympian: Again, has a really cool sound but the only time the Last Olympian is mentioned is when they meet Hestia. Somehow, seems a little narrow.
If anyone else wants to discect titles, feel free to do so on this page!
And it feels great to be back in the Chatterbox again!

WELCOME BACK EVERINNE!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everinne! I'm Blonde Heroines Rule. I wasn't here when you were here last, so this is also my introduction. Welcome back to CB!
I have to agree about the novel titles. Though, I especially liked The Last Olympian title, though I agree, I've always thought it really didn't have that much to do with the overall plot.

Hello, hello again. I think you remember me. Because I remember you.

Everinne's back! *does a tango*
Book titles, you say? Umm... Let's see...
Fire and Bitterblue are just a little... meh. You named your book after your protagonist? That's orginal.
Graceling is okay... I suppose. It doesn't really tell anything about the story, though. To me, I think Graceling would make a better series title. Of course, if Graceling is the series title, we might have ended up with Katsa (a.k.a. Katniss) as the title.

The Sea of Monsters could fit in insted of the sea of darkness in that song that goes, The sea of darkness, Lost love and loneliness, Something someting somethingness, The sea of darkness. ( I love to sing). The sea of Monsters, lost love & loneliness, etc

Welcome back, Everinne!
Looking for Alaska: this is sort of accurate (it would have been more accurate MINOR SPOILER if it was Looking for Alaska's Soul, MINOR SPOILER ENDED, although that would have been a long book title.)
(May 2, 2013 - 4:36 pm)
Also, I think that spoilers in book titles are usually not good.
I really like the titles of Paper Towns and An Abundance of Katherines, though.
An Abundance of Katherines reminds me of Too Many Daves by Dr. Seuss!

EVERINNE! *eyes get misty* YOU'RE BACK! I know this is a way way waaaay. late thread, especially someone who's Caps loves you so much, but I haven't been on here in, like, AGES, and am making a resolution to try to get on more.
A while back, I had to write a "hello again" thread, and asked for you and.. *chokes on tears*..they.. told me you had gone! I was devastated! I have remembered you ever since! You may not remember me, but that's chill, cause I don't expect you to, so.. yeah.
A HUGE WELCOME BACK EVERINNE AND TRY TO FIND THAT TIME TO COME BACK TO YOUR BUDDIES!
Okay, so to make you happy on your time back, here are my titles:
A lot of the Harry Potter book names seem to not have a lot to do with the plot, to name some: The Half-Blood Prince (not the main plot) The Goblet of Fire (Not too bad, but there was more interesting things going on) and The Prisoner of Azkaban (not happening). I'm not saying I like straightforward titles, I do understand people want them to be suspenseful, but those aren't really cutting it. I'd find something to do with the plot that sounded mysterious, and made you want to pick it up. Goblets of fire are cool, but come on, it's Harry Potter. You should be expecting this sort of thing. Why not come up with something un-expected? This may not really make sense, but when you hear the GoF title for the first time, you think.. hm.. a goblet.. of fire?! Sounds cool. I wonder what significance the fire is? Probably something magical, again. It's Harry Potter, after all. Whereas, let's say she named it Harry Potter and the Game of Death... I came up with this off the top of my head, soo.. not the best. but hey.. remember Ced? That brings a lot of question.. I think. I'm not sure, actually. I made it up, haha. But maybe someone would think.. game? What kind of game? And death? Is there going to be a death, or is it being figurative, or just the name?
Anyway.. hehehe.. been going on about something of NO significance whatsoever.. I need to take a break..
