Chatterbox: Blab About Books
The What Katy Did series
Okay, everybody I've...
Okay, everybody I've ever asked has said they've never heard of the What Katy Did series. I am starting this thread to find out if there is anybody out there who has! There a several books in this series. What Katy Did, What Katy Did at School, What Katy Did Next, then two books about her younger sister, Clover, called; Clover, & In High Valley. They're by Susan Coolidge, but that was her non de plume. Her real name was Sarah Chauncey Woolsey. My personal favorites of the series are What Katy Did, What Katy Did at School, and Clover. They're a very sweet, heartwarming series! Trust me, you'll fall absolutley in love with Katy Carr!

I read a chapter of What Katy Did in a treasury. I wasn't too thrilled. I probably would have like it when I was in my Betsy, Tacy and Tib stage.

Gollum: I searched Betsy Tacy and Tibs. It looks like a really cute book! I so want to read it! Have you read any Trixie Beldon mysteries? She's a teenager in the 1950's or 60's, who is very tomboy and spontanious. She doesn't think before acting which often gets her involved in a mystery! That or the old Nancy Drew, which I like just as much!

TRUST ME!!! You must read this book! It's a great story that by the end you'll laugh & cry along with all the Carr children! Believe me! This book has gone through my family for 3 generations, and we've all loved it!

Am I the only one here who has heard of older singers and books? Has anyone heard of Rebecca of Sunny Brook Farm? PLEASE!!!! I'm going to go MAD if someone else hasn't heard of this! Or read it! Does anyone else like the classics still? Like A Little Princess, Secret Garden, Heidi, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, or anything else like that? Also, has anybody else read any Trixie Beldon mysteries? They're great!
Yes, I've heard and read all of them! I love the classics!

Rebecca of Sunny Brook Farm: started reading, didn't like it too much.
A Little Princess: Amazingamazingamazing.
Secret Garden: Not as good as A Little Princess
Heidi: My mom started forcing me to read that. I couldn't stand it.
Anne of Green Gables: Tried reading after an abridged version (in, what, first grade?) and didn't like it. I want to try it again, though.
Little Women: read Little Women in three months. Was that bored.
In conclusion, I'm not really into classics about girls. I like Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, Peter Pan etc. LOADS better.

@ Gollum: I agree A little Princess was AMAZING! I've read it 5 times and still was sad to finish it!
Secret Garden, I admit, was a little odd, though I still liked the story very much.
Anne of Green Gables you've GOT to read again! A nonabridged version! It's by far, the best book EVER!!!!! I LOVE Anne of Green Gables! I've been reading it since I was 6 and watching the movie before that! You wouldn't regret it! It's a VERY charming comical story you'd love!
I, for one really liked Little Women! It was a sweet story I related to quite a bit! I could relate to each of the characters in some way. Jo, her wanting to stay little, not carring about what others think, and her love of writing. Beth, being so shy. Amy, her liking to draw. And Meg being Miss Responsible.
Heidi, I loved! Such a sweet loving little girl!
Rebecca is a lot like me, so naturally I loved her too!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Peter Pan! I so wish I could fly to Never Land! Though, I haven't read Tom Sawyer, or Huckleberry Fin, though I'm going to soon!
