Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Books in General
We have a...

We have a lot of threads for many specific books, so I thought it would be a good idea for us to have one about books in general, so if someone had a quick question about books, they wouldn't have to start a new thread.

Here's my question:  Which John Green novel should I read for my school book report: Paper Towns or Looking for Alaska?

I haven't read either, but I would go with Looking for Alaska.

Is anyone else waiting in joyous excitement for The Mark of Athena to be published next week?

I was looking at NPR's list of most popular/best teen books and there was a lot of stuff by John Green. Is he a good author and what type of genre does he write?

I haven't read Paper Towns yet, but LfA is very good. (It also has a lot more swearing and mature themes than his other books. I don't know how you feel about such things, but... caveat lector, I suppose.)

If you're looking for your first John Green, I do think The Fault in Our Stars is far and away the better book; after all, he's matured a lot since LfA was published. I recommend LfA, of course, but not as highly as TFiOS. Unless you've read that already?

I wish I had read this before I went to school today.  I chose Paper Towns over Looking for Alaska because I thought it sounded better.  I like it so far, though.

I can't wait for Mark of Athena!

@Elizabeth M.

John Green is an awesome author.  I think his books are technically romance, but they don't read like that.  They're really witty and intellectual and amazing.  I have friends who will only read his books.

@Holmes

I loved The Future of Us!  Although I totally predicted the ending.  You read Thirteen Reasons Why, right?  It's one of the authors and it's also ah-maz-ing!

@ZNZ

I've already read TFiOS and An Abundance of Katherines.  And I'm pretty mature when it comes to books.  I've been reading Meg Cabot since fifth grade.

Spammy just said an actual word: wean.
