Oh, that's a sweet book. I got the real one for Christmas. I've only started reading the abridged version but I was 6 then so it didn't work out and then when I was 9 or something I read a simpler kids' version. I'm looking forward to reading the real thing!Wink

I really like how real this book is and how you can relate to it even though it was written 150 years ago. However, I liked the first half more then the second because I wish Beth didn't have to die!

This was not a very good book.  It was too "unplot-ish"  There was not a lot of action.

@Holmes:

So what if there wasn't much plot? That was the style back then, before all everyone read was sword-fighting and dragon-slaying. And I happen to like the plot.

This book beautifully combines deep, underlaying meaning and true conflict in these girls' lives. So much emotion in this book.

I LOVE this book! Loisa May Alcott is one of my heroes! My mom read this to me first, then I've read it several time myself since! I can relate to each of the girls in some way, Jo in paticular. I agree, it was utterly tragic when Beth died. I cried each time I read it, and I'm crying even now just thinking about it! Little Women is the sweetest book I will read till the day I die!

I totally agree with you. When I read this book (the unabriged one) I felt like I could totally relate with Meg, Amy, and particularly Beth and Jo. I loved this book and I almost cried when Beth died.

I tried reading it a year ago and I couldn't. I tried again, and realized that it's good, after all.

I almost cried when Beth died... Cry
