The Far-Distant Oxus is a wonderful book! It is about the Hunterly children who go to spend the summer at a farm. They get to choose their own ponies and have excellent adventures on the moors. Some of the things they do include building a hut, hanging hammocks way up in trees, and going to the sea. They build a raft themselves and take turns riding their ponies and the raft. When they get to the sea, they have pony races on the beach.
