The remarkable journey of Coyote Sunrise

by Dan Gemeinhart

This is an amazing book about family, grief, and adventure. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It's sad and heartfelt at times but also made me laugh out loud at others. All of the characters are established wonderfully and easy to connect with. Here's a brief summary:

Coyote Sunrise and her dad Rodeo travel the nation in an old school bus. They haven't had a home since her mother and sisters passed away 5 years ago and Rodeo refuses to go back. But when Coyote hears that a park in her old neighborhood, the park that Coyote and her family buried a memory box in five years ago, is being tore down, she comes up with a plan to travel over 1000 miles back home without her dad realizing it. Along the way they pick up a group of misfits including a long haired goat named Gladys, and Coyote finds friendship and family in the most unlikely of people.

If you haven't read this book yet you really should!
