The Book Thief is a wonderful book about Liesel, a ten-(I think)-year-old girl growing up in Nazi Germany. Narrated by Death, the plot line includes Liesel and her foster family harboring a Jewish man, Max; Liesel learning to read and stealing books from the mayor's library; Rudy, Liesel's best friend, continually asking for a kiss; and a new realization in the reader of how World War II effected an ordinary, innocent community. I cried at the end, laughed half of the book, and really enjoyed the writing.

I can't wait to read it! Although Nazi Germany is a sad and depressing time, I love books on the subject, not so sure why.......
