Kickoff by Donna King is about a girl named Tyra who moves from sunny Tampa Bay, Florida, to dreary Fernbridge, England. She goes to soccer practice and ends up on the team. But there's one person on that team that is so jealous of Tyra, she wants to keep her from playing, so she can be the star of the team. One night, Tyra overhears her mom and dad talking about how he had talked with the commander of his post in the army and the commander had said they could move back to Florida, in order to give Tyra's little sister, Shirelle, who has ADD and autism a proper education. Tyra doesn't know how to feel. Then she gets an e-mail from her friend Lacey. Lacey was moving to Colorado, so the only reason that made Tyra want to go back was gone. Will she move? What happens?
