The Help is the story of two maids and one white woman in Jackson, Mississippi, in the early 60's. The Civil Rights Movement is in full swing, and Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan wants to write a book from the point of view from maids in the South. Abilene and Minny are two maids who want to make changes in Mississippi. But this task is dangerous, and there is one main threat: Hilly Holbrook, a woman with a lot of power, who happens to know the governor of Mississippi. Together, Skeeter, Abilene, and Minny write a book about the lives of maids in the South, and are about to make some big changes- for better or worse.
