The Book of Three

by Lloyd Alexander

Even though it's been a few years since I read this book, it still remains at the top of my favorite book list.  The first in a series of five (The Book of Three, The Black Cauldron, The Castle Of Llyr, Taran Wanderer and The High King, which won he Newbery Medal), it follows the life of Taran, Assistant Pig Keeper, and his friends. Set in the mythical land of Prydain, but based on Welsh legend, it (and it's sequels) are filled with magic, excitement, and only a teeny tiny bit of love.

Lloyd Alexander (on the Cricket Editorial Board for many years) does an amazing job of spinning an exquisite tale.

I really, really like this book. It's really one of Alexander's best...pity that he died last year :( The cartoon wasn't all that bad, except that Eilonwy's character was wierd...

I definitely agree that The Book of Three is a great book. I like that it is filled with adventure, suspence, and even humor! The characters are funny and bold and makes you want to really meet them. I recommend this book to everybuggy looking for a very good read!!

This is a very good book. I've tried to summarize it before, but it is so good that it really defies description. Taran is great, and so are Fflewdor, Eilonwy, and (my personal favorite) Gurgi. The series continues to be great. Read it. Now.

I read this book because of a free book thing at the bookstore, and it was the only one that looked good. I then tried reading the next one and I just did't like it as much, for some reason.

I love anything and everything written by Lloyd Alexander. I loved this book and its sequels. The cartoon was terrible, as are most movies, in my opinion, that are two books in one.
