Inheritance Cycle
by Christopher PaoliniThis is a great series about a country named Alaigsia which is ruled by a evil dragon rider.
Eregon, our boy main character, discovers a dragon egg which hatches and makes him a dragon rider, the only hope for the rebel forces trying to overthrow the evil rider. It contains dwarves, elves and other creatures. It gets a lot more detailed than that but you get the idea.

This was all right because it was the first fantasy novel I ever read, but if I had read Lord of the Rings or The Wizard of Earthsea beforehand, I don't think I would have thought it so original and fun. It basically sounds like an imitation of all classic fantasy, with very few inspired elements. Eragon is likely the best, because it has the most uniform story arc and Paolini was so young when he wrote it; so it's a pretty impressive feat, but his level of writing never improves with his age, and the plot quickly unravels through the subsequent books.

Yeah. I read it and it got too dense , and then . . . well, it just wasn't very original. It had lots of ideas I'd seen other places, sort of mixed together and then like zilch new ideas.
