Thia is an invaluable book to any who are interested in housekeeping, cooking, or even just in the Victorian Era. Lydia Maria Child (1802-1880) wrote this book in 1832, and though she admitted that hundreds of cookery/housekeepng books were already on the market, she felt that a very hands-on, practical one such as hers would soon find a place amongst them. She very carfully exercises her own wise judgment as well as looking to those more experienced, to provide safe, clear directions. A truly great read.
